T. A. G. tip

Keep it simple! don't make it complicated sometimes the simple acts of goodness can be the most profound

who we are and what we're about

TAG:                         the start

Although doing good has been a regular part of our journey, it was mid-November 2007 that we, (Stephen & Wayne)  both, almost at the very same time were moved to get others involved in the "game" of TAG. I (Wayne) distinctly remember the very moment of inspiration. I was waiting for Rosanne, my wife, to come out of Starbucks with my tea-misto (yum!). As I sat and watched the crowds of people scurrying about, I saw a man and a woman heading for the front doors of Chapters, obviously on a collision course if one of them did not back off. As I watched I noticed a scene that I have seen played out a thousand times before - one of them sped up to get ahead of the other. The man won! and it was what happened next that truly inspired me. The man sped up to open the door for a complete stranger - not to rush in before her. WOW!  My instant thought was that I wanted to run out of my car and stick some kind of sticker on him to acknowledge his act of kindness. It was at that moment the concept of T.A.G. was birthed.

the mission

To inspire our network of friends, families and complete strangers to Touch our world through Acts of Goodness.

the meaning

TAG = Touched by Acts of Goodness

the rules

1. To Touch = in this "game" you look for opportunities to Touch a person with an Act of Goodness. The touch can be random or planned but the point is to touch! and then ask the person you tagged to "play it forward".

2. To Be Touched = in this "game" you take a TAG sticker and when you see someone doing good for another person you stick a TAG on them and let them know they have been "tagged" for Touching a person with an Act of Goodness. After you have bragged on them ask them to "play it forward" the person you have just "tagged" can now take their tag and stick it someone else they may see that day doing good to another.

a taggable moment

My husband, Jeff, went into Starbuck's recently to get us a couple of high-dollar coffee drinks. So when he got back to the car and said, "Our total was $2.03," my first question was, "Why?"

I knew it wasn't a mistake on the cashier's part, because whenever that's happened, Jeff always corrects the error.

So my first reaction was scepticism.

It turns out a nurse went into that Starbuck's earlier in the day and told the barista she had lost two patients in the past two days, and she needed to do something to make herself feel better.

So she handed over some cash and told the barista she wanted to buy coffee for people as long as the money lasted. We arrived at closing time, so we must have gotten the last of her money.
